The correct way to check your oil

The correct way to check your oil

These guides serve as an introduction into various Alfa maintenance tasks, and are designed to give Alfa owners a better understanding of the work that is involved. These are not full Alfa Romeo workshop manuals, where you will find the official techniques, technical specs and important safety considerations, which we would recommend you study before attempting any of these tasks.

1:- Park car on level ground and remove dip stick, It is best to do this warm but doing it cold is a lot better than not doing it at all (Note, the dipstick may be in a different place on your model)

2:- Clean dipstick thoroughly.

3:- Re insert dip stick in tube, push fully home and then withdraw and check the oil level.

4:- Clean dipstick again and repeat stages 2 and 3, making sure that the second reading is the same as the first. If the reading is not the same repeat the process again until you get a consistent reading, then top up as required, the area between minimum and maximum is 1 liter
