Replacing a roll bar link on a 156, 147 or a GT

Replacing a roll bar link on a 156, 147 or a GT

These guides serve as an introduction into various Alfa maintenance tasks, and are designed to give Alfa owners a better understanding of the work that is involved. These are not full Alfa Romeo workshop manuals, where you will find the official techniques, technical specs and important safety considerations, which we would recommend you study before attempting any of these tasks.

While the vehicle is on the ground loosen the road wheel nuts but do not remove. Jack both sides of the car up and make safe using axle stands, then remove the road wheel.

Now this is the interesting bit, sometimes there are flats for a spanner on the rear of the roll bar link as shown here

and sometimes there aren’t and you have to use an allen key in the end of the link. I have pictures of both forms of attachment here. before you attempt to undo either clean the visible threads thoroughly with a wire brush. Undo both ends of the link and replace with the new roll bar link.
