Changing The Oil And Filter On A 156, 147 Or GT Mjet

Changing The Oil And Filter On A 156, 147 Or GT Mjet

These guides serve as an introduction into various Alfa maintenance tasks, and are designed to give Alfa owners a better understanding of the work that is involved. These are not full Alfa Romeo workshop manuals, where you will find the official techniques, technical specs and important safety considerations, which we would recommend you study before attempting any of these tasks.

First job is to remove the oil cap, don’t put it back on until after you have filled the car with oil and put it somewhere obvious

Jack the car up and make it safe with axle stands and then remove the under tray.

Drain the oil and dispose of it carefully.

Remove the oil filter cover which is on the front of the engine next to the exhaust particulate filter.

Remove oil filter and replace with new, making sure you put a smear of oil on the seal and then do it up as tight as you can by hand, do not use a tool to tighten this up.
