Alfa Romeo 3.2 GTA/166 Front Brake Pads Change

Alfa Romeo 3.2 GTA/166 Front Brake Pads Change

These guides serve as an introduction into various Alfa maintenance tasks, and are designed to give Alfa owners a better understanding of the work that is involved. These are not full Alfa Romeo workshop manuals, where you will find the official techniques, technical specs and important safety considerations, which we would recommend you study before attempting any of these tasks.

Loosen wheel nuts then elevate the vehicle, mount safely on two axle stands and remove the front wheel.

Unplug the brake pad wear sensor and tap out the two retaining pins with a long nose punch and hammer. The anti rattle clip will pop out.

Leaving the old pads in, use two levers either side to prise the pistons back to make room for the new pads. Clean the top and bottom of the calliper housing with a small wire brush, this will allow the new pads to move freely.

Copper slip the ends of the new pads liberally.

Slide in the new pads and reverse the process to re-mantle them.
